I think I will try returning the gainer to raid 0 if for no other reason I can tell the difference in performance. again, both drives work splendidly in the loser box. the irksome bit about this situation is that some of the files work on the one drive, and I have yet to find a file on the other drive that does not. if I now go default bios, the os will not boot.

I was able to install the os on one drive and it works. frankly, I did not alter the bios or even ponder it when I went from raid 0 to non-raid. I admit I had not pondered looking at the bios while troubleshooting this problem. however, I am not sure what is going on with this bios. I hate resorting to rebuilding, so often it is avoidable. What would cause a recognized drive, in which I can see all the files, not work for most files? I do not consider this a bad drive or a failing drive. I have relocated my share of drives but this is a new problem for me. and again once I returned it to the loser, it works, perfectly. I tried several sata cables to include the same used from the loser.Īfter cleaning, light vacuum, I tried again. I tried several sata ports, I cleaned them once I realized there appears be an issue. The gaining machine is win7 圆4 (the same as the loser) with a fresh install and all updates. I put it back into the loser and all is well.Īdditional information: I have two of the same drive, the other one works fine in both machines. I can run, with vlc, a few of the videos, but mostly I cannot. it recognizes the drive, but the first time I booted with it installed chkdsk ran with a boatload of orphans. The problem is when I attempt to move a secondary hard drive, 4TB WEWD4003FZEX, to the FTW3. Sorry, but I have yet to figure out which one I have I do not know the difference, both considered ftw3. the mobos are both evga x58 classified circa 2010, roughly.
